Welcome to Chester House

Chester House is a 3 acre small holding in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty in the North Pennines in the UK.

We are renovating the cottage on the property and adding ground source heating, no easy feat in a 150 year old stone cottage. We ultimately want to be pretty independent from the grid with solar and wind energy also. We are already finding out some of the challenges and details required for this and will share our experience and findings so if you are thinking of installing ground source heating in an older property you could find this interesting. I have an interest in vermicomposting – composting with worms, that is and I will show my progress in setting up my wormery. I would like to be able to provide some additional income from selling the worm castings. I’ll let you know how it goes and show you the real numbers.
